In this talk, we will discuss the principles underlying extracellular recording of single neuron activity in the brain, spike sorting methods, and neural population signal decoding. We will show examples of invasive brain-machine interfaces in clinicla and pre-clinical research, and will discuss how to equip these devices with artificial tactile feedback.
